University Teaching Certificate
As a graduate student, you can prepare to successfully meet your teaching responsibilities now and in the future with the six-day University Teaching Certificate (UTC). The program integrates learning, instructional theory and practice. You will learn valuable skills to promote active learning, critical thinking and inquiry approaches in your classroom. As a result, you will be able to assume greater responsibility in the delivery of university instruction and provide quality teaching and learning experiences for your students.
PROGRAM DETAILS
The UTC program Includes:- Sessions covering a range of instructional issues
- Microteaching sessions to practice new teaching skills and receive peer feedback
- Development of personally relevant assignments, for example, a syllabus, assessment or teaching portfolio
- Discussions on teaching strategies with peers from across campus
- Individual classroom observations and feedback
- Developing presentation skills for both large and small groups
- Constructing valid assessment techniques
- Building successful learning environments
- Examining various teaching methods including inquiry-based and blended learning models
- Promoting reflective practices
- Interactive classroom approaches
